Aix-les-Bains, the pearl of the Alps Nestled on the shores of Lake Bourget — the largest natural lake in France.
Dominated by the imposing silhouettes of Mont Revard and Dent du Chat, Aix-les-Bains is an exceptional town that combines nature, history, and a gentle way of life. A spa town with a royal destiny. Renowned since antiquity, the town has attracted some of Europe's most prominent figures over the centuries. It has been aptly nicknamed "the abode of queens and the queen of abodes." Queen Victoria of England was one of its most illustrious patrons, staying in the resort several times at the end of the 19th century. George I of Greece was also among its devoted visitors. Great literary and intellectual figures were not to be outdone: Madame de Staël and Madame Récamier, queens of Parisian salons, Alexandre Dumas, and Alphonse de Lamartine—whose Lake Bourget inspired one of the most beautiful poems in the French language—all stayed here and found inspiration. Later, Rainer Maria Rilke, Queen, Charles Aznavour and many other artists perpetuated this tradition of exceptional holidaymaking.
Today, a year-round destination. In summer, the Grand Port beach and the turquoise waters of the lake invite swimming, sailing, and paddleboarding. In autumn and spring, the hiking trails offer breathtaking panoramas. In winter, the Revard and Bauges ski resorts are just minutes away.
Just a short distance away, Annecy, Chambéry, and Lyon are all accessible in under an hour, making Aix-les-Bains an ideal base for exploring the entire Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Whether you come to relax, recharge, or embark on an adventure, Aix-les-Bains welcomes you to a setting of exceptional beauty.

๐ Access to Aix-les-Bains by train: Aix-les-Bains has a central train station: Aix-les-Bains – Le Revard. It is served by: TGV (weekends and tourist periods) TER Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes from Lyon, Annecy, Chambéry, Grenoble, Geneva (via Bellegarde) Train journey times: Lyon Part-Dieu → 1 hour Annecy → 35 minutes Chambéry → 10 minutes Paris (TGV) → approximately 3 hours The station is a 5–10 minute walk from the city center.
